[ Cloud Computing ] Re: cloud and user experience

'Can you quantify "about"? Within 1 year? 2 years? Or even 5 years?'

It's already been happening, it's just a continuation of the trend.

However, that said, the first serious framework play will be Azure. It
is not beyond the wit of man to guess that when Azure becomes
available, there will also be other ISP providers of Azure, the
ability to buy your own container based Azure cloud and a server
version. It would be tactically sensible of MSFT to focus on creating
an ecosystem of providers and creating a marketplace based around
Azure. This will help focus the industry at the framework layer of the
computing stack and over the next few years you should see emerging
defacto standards.

Time frame: it'll be obvious within the next two years but it'll take
5-8 years to spread.

"Let's not forget how many 'standards' are formed! They are not formed
by
industry professional waiting on the sidelines as standard bodies
ponder all
the potential scenario"

Absolutely. There will be emerging de facto standards through
competition.
