Agreed. I'm sure it's been brought up on this list before, but I'd like to see
a comprehensive set of tests that exercise these different aspects in both
isolation and various combinations. Everyone will optimize for it (like with
linpack) but that is fine. It at least consistently tells you something in
relation to your application. There are too many hardware and configuration
variables to practically map them all to your specific needs, especially if
you're trying to do it without guessing.
