Saad,
Here are a few quick comments regarding your email –
1. Google and Microsoft DO dominate specific software segments today, but they don’t dominate enough of the software market to support this broad statement. There is no reason to think that CC would be any different.
2. Google and Microsoft don’t want all of the IT application market. They sell lots of development tools to others for a reason.
3. The market size for many specific (and valuable) software applications is not big enough for the large players. There is simply not enough revenue in many products to gain their interest. A 50 billion dollar company has little interest in a 200 million dollar market.
4. Google and Microsoft cannot be experts in a thousand different industries.
5. I expect with CC / SaaS that the big players will work to dominate certain large markets and product segments, leaving plenty of room for many other players.

Subject: [ Cloud Computing ] Big Players cornered the cloud?
Dear All
I recently mentioned the the cloud computing concept to a client (i.e. to offer cloud computing to their customers) and got the following email response:
"I have passed this through our IT dept. and their view was that the big players (Microsoft and Google) are leaving little room for other companies to grow in this area. "
To what extent is this true/false?
Many Thanks
Saad
